Home Office
I think we've reached about the halfway point in this room, so I decided to post some pictures of our progress.
| Here is what the room looked like before we began. | |
| Abbey's mom painted the trim and the walls on moving day. She also cleaned the previous owner's paint spills on the baseboard and window casings. | |
| Here is another angle of the room after the painting. | |
| I built and installed a corner desk that would
allow enough room for both of our computers. It was built using 3/4"
birch plywood and attached using supports built with poplar. We
stained it with dark walnut. Of course I ran into more issues with square walls and floors, so it took me a couple of tries to get it mounted level. |
|
| Here is the final picture of our current
progress. I installed a keyboard tray on my side, and ran all the
cables for the computers. Abbey has a laptop, so no tray was necessary
for her side.
The southwestern style rug was courtesy of my dad. |
|
| The next step is to install some bookshelves or
cabinets above the desk. We really haven't decided what to do yet, so
we're open to suggestions. I'm leaning toward either attaching some
shelves directly to the wall, or building a hutch type stand that will have
bookshelves at the top and house the printer on the bottom. We also intend to install some lighting of some kind. Possibly a track with some hanging lights over each side of the desk. Shades and curtains still need to be purchased and installed as well. ...and possibly a new rug ;) |
