Unfortunately I do not have an original picture of what this console piece looked like.

First I set the LCD frame in place and glued.  I used small strips of MDF wood around the frame to fill in the gaps between the frame and the console.  It wasn't quite a perfect fit, that's why the wood filler was used.

After the glue was dry and the piece was secure, I applied the first batch of rigid plastic filler.

After this dried, I sanded it using 80 grit to get an idea where the uneven spots were.  I applied another batch of rigid plastic filler to bring the height above the original console plastic.

I sanded again using 80 grit paper to make it flush with the edges of the console.  Then I finished sanding with 120 and 220 grit paper.  The piece is now ready for texture painting.

I applied a coat of plastic adhesion promoter to ensure the texture coat would stick properly.  Here is a picture of the first couple coats of texture paint.  Afterwards I realized I had applied the texture spray at too close of a distance.  I had to use 600 grit sandpaper to remove some of the texture so it would match the rest of my console.

Next, I applied the color coat.  I chose graphite for the color.  Unfortunately, this was slightly off from the theme of my car.  I ordered some more paint and will be re-spraying next week to hopefully get the color closer to the original.  I had to re-spray the center console piece as well to match the dash piece.   The little white ball you see in the picture at the upper left side is the remote sensor for the DVD player.  I have not permanently stuck it in place yet because I plan to remove the dash piece again to re-spray.

Finally, here is a picture of the DVD player installed in the center console.  It is a cheap Audiobahn player that also plays MP3 CDs.  I am definitely looking to upgrade this player in the future to something much nicer.  It will do for now, but I would like something with a much better display and UI for playing MP3s as well as a possible GPS option available if I purchase the map discs.
