I will never have enough storage space

This weekend’s project was a set of shelves that I could hang on the wall in the garage over my workbench. My work area has become increasingly cluttered since we moved in last year. Every time I don’t have a place for some miscellaneous hardware, or I acquire a new tool; it gets “placed” on the back of the workbench.

This gave me an opportunity to try out the new dado blades I received for Christmas. The arbor on my bench-top saw was just a hair too short for a 3/4″ dado stack, so I had to settle for 7/16″. The plywood I purchased was actually 23/32″ thick as opposed to 3/4″, so the pieces I cut still fit together (with a little extra help from the mallet).

The other tool I received at Christmas that has proved invaluable, is the air compressor and brad nailer. I don’t know how I ever lived without this thing. It is significantly easier and much more convenient than trying to use a hammer and nail set.

Man I’m getting old

I turned 28 today, and I had a nice revelation the other day that really made me feel old.  A new radio station recently came on the air in Columbus that plays 90’s alternative rock.  I started listening to it at work and immediately thought “I love this station, they play everything I like.”  Songs from Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Bush, Everclear, etc. frequented the rotation.

Then I realized, this is what my dad used to do when I was a kid growing up.  The radio in the car was always playing music from 60’s and 70’s.

I can’t believe I listen to “oldies” now.
