Work Work Work
So I switched stores..
I now work on the south side of Columbus at a store on S. High St. Its the busiest store in Columbus, and encompasses all three types of business (dine-in, carryout, delivery).
Why did I get transferred? Long story, but the old manager was terminated, and I was the most qualified candidate. This move is supposed to help me develop more and get promoted faster…we’ll see how that goes.
Do I like it? The jury is still out on that decision. It has only been 3 weeks, so I am still adjusting and getting the store running the way I’m used to. There was quite a bit of turnover around the time of the transition, so staffing has been one of the biggest challenges. Once I overcome that and get a little more settled, I’ll make a decision as to whether the move was good or bad.
My intial hope was that the customer base would be a little bit nicer. Not quite ‘north-side’ nice, but better than what I dealt with on the west side. Well the bottom line is, I pretty much traded whiggers for hillbillies. And of course that brings to mind the cheesy cliche, “This job would be great if it wasn’t for the customers.”
