Where did all these Steeler’s fans come from?

Abbey and I attempted to go out and watch some pro football late Sunday afternoon. Scott was supposed to join us but he couldn’t catch a flight in from London in time. London Ohio that is.

Anyway, we attempted to go to three different BW3s all across northern Columbus and every single one was packed with Steeler’s fans.  So packed, that we had to leave because there were no tables and people standing around waiting for tables. Roethlisberger jersey’s everywhere.  Of the 897639846 TVs in these places, all of them but one had the Steelers on. The remaining TV had the NASCAR race…

We ended up going to the Winking Lizard to catch the second half of the game. Ironically, this place had a TV with every game on and only about 15 people there.

Why is it so hard to find a Browns game anymore. Yes yes, I know the Browns are horrid this year, but five years ago, this scene would have been completely different.

Thankfully, the Steelers had a horrible game and lost to the worst team in the NFL.

Vael and friends

We defeated Vael on Wednesday and then 1-shotted Broodlord and Firemaw. After that, we weren’t so lucky. The trash before Flamegor wiped us quite a few times and we had to come back and try again on Thursday. After finally getting up to Flamegor, our tanks couldn’t figure out a decent taunting rotation and he kept healing himself. So we wiped on him a bunch of times and then called it a night.

Out of all these bosses and trash mobs, not a single caster piece dropped.

We now have BWL on two nights and moved MC to Sunday afternoon/evening. The only thing I still need from there is the [item]Choker of the Fire Lord[/item], so I can just hop in for Rag at the end of the run.

Best keyboard ever.

I had a little accident yesterday.  The phone rang and startled me, so I reached my hand for the phone a little too quickly and knocked over a huge cup of coffee right onto my keyboard.  Normally, this would pretty much destroy any regular keyboard but not this bad boy, the IBM Model M.  The few people that actually see my computer always ask, “dude, whats up with your keyboard?”  It looks like something straight out of the 80’s.  Aside from the stunning asthetics, its the sturdiest, most durable keyboard of all time.  Not to mention, it also has clicky keys! It’s probably the only keyboard you can run through the dishwasher to clean… and still have it work properly.

So back to my story.  I took the keyboard into the bathroom, rinsed it off in the shower, let it dry for about 3-4 hours, and it was good as new.

Student again?

I’ve been thinking lately about going back to school and pursuing a master’s degree in something. It’s been a few years (4) since I graduated, and I’m a little bit detached from the engineering field, so if I decided to leave my current job, a little more education should help with finding a new career.

An MBA would probably be the easiest path and take the least amount of time. This would also give me some more leverage with my current job.

I’ll probably wait until Abbey graduates before I seriously consider going back, but I will probably begin exploring my options soon.

Work Work Work

So I switched stores..

I now work on the south side of Columbus at a store on S. High St.  Its the busiest store in Columbus, and encompasses all three types of business (dine-in, carryout, delivery).

Why did I get transferred?  Long story, but the old manager was terminated, and I was the most qualified candidate.  This move is supposed to help me develop more and get promoted faster…we’ll see how that goes.

Do I like it?  The jury is still out on that decision.  It has only been 3 weeks, so I am still adjusting and getting the store running the way I’m used to.  There was quite a bit of turnover around the time of the transition, so staffing has been one of the biggest challenges.  Once I overcome that and get a little more settled, I’ll make a decision as to whether the move was good or bad.

My intial hope was that the customer base would be a little bit nicer.  Not quite ‘north-side’ nice, but better than what I dealt with on the west side.  Well the bottom line is, I pretty much traded whiggers for hillbillies.  And of course that brings to mind the cheesy cliche, “This job would be great if it wasn’t for the customers.”
